INTERNET SAFETY KIDS

STAYING SAFE ON THE INTERNET
  • Zip it - keep your personal information private and think about what you say and do online
  • Block it - block people who send you nasty messages and don’t open unknown links and attachments
  • Flag it - flag up with someone you trust if anything upsets you or if someone asks to meet you offline


Zip it

Make sure you always keep private information safe. People may not be who they say they are online

Your should not give out information like:
  • your full name
  • photos
  • home or email addresses
  • alchool information
  • mobile or home telephone numbers

Make sure you never arrange to meet anybody, most if not all the people in chatrooms are strangers.

It is always best not to use any chatrooms, but if you need to use a nickname instead of your real name in chat rooms or on instant messaging services. Always keep your passwords secret, and to change them regularly.


Block it
 

Never open unknown links and attachments in MSN messages, chatrooms or emails. If you receive them and you do not know who it is from, then delete them as they may contain something offensive or have a virus that can cause damage to the computer.


Flag it


The final rule is you are worried or unhappy about anything you see online see your parent. You should also do this if a friend you have made online has asked you to meet.
